Board Member Spotlight - Jennifer Newcomb, Pierre SD

What community do you call home? Pierre, SD. I also travel to rural schools across the 6th Circuit for work.

Why is CASA's mission important to you? Every child deserves to feel safe at home.

What do you wish more people knew about CASA and the children we serve? What children need to be successful looks different for every child. Trained CASA volunteers help children when they are most vulnerable.

What motivates you to give your time and talents to Central SD CASA? My late father dedicated his career to helping children who were abused and neglected. Volunteering on CASA’s board of directors helps me carry on his legacy.

What is your favorite way to spend a weekend? I love spending any moment I can in the river with my husband and girls.

How can our community help ensure every child has the opportunity to thrive? Donate time or money if you can. Help the children that are close to you understand that not all kids have the support and resources they do. The children of this community are the next generation of volunteers/donors, which the future of Central SD depends on to survive.

In one sentence, what does Central SD CASA mean to you? Central SD CASA gives a voice to children when the court system is deciding their future.
