Board Member Spotlight - Kristi Livermont, Pierre SD

Tell us a little about yourself. I am born and raised in Pierre, went to USD for my undergraduate degree, CU Denver for my masters, studied abroad in Perth, Australia, have traveled to 23 countries (and counting) and still think home is truly Pierradise” I have the pleasure of working for Capital Area Counseling Service, have two pups and love spending time on the river with my family and friends.

What inspired you to join the Central SD CASA Board of Directors? I have always had a love and passion for helping children.

What impact do you hope Central SD CASA will have on our communities in the coming years? Every child who needs a CASA has timely access to one. This includes growing our number of volunteers and ensuring long term sustainability of the program.

What motivates you to give your time and talents to Central SD CASA? I strive to see growth within the Central SD CASA, and most importantly the sustainability of the program. Unfortunately, the need for advocates for abused and neglected children will always be there, so I see our work as a Board extremely important.

What is your favorite book, movie, or quote? “Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do then by the ones you did. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor, catch the trade winds in your sail. Explore. Dream. Discover.” – Mark Twain

What would you say to someone considering becoming a CASA volunteer or supporter? There is a network of volunteers, those at MaxStrat and the Board who are here to help support you, and if you find it is not a right fit for you, that’s okay, but it’s worth the try. There are plenty of ways to be involved in CASA, including attending our events, making a donation, or even simply by helping us spread the word and sharing our social media posts.
