September Volunteer Spotlight
Shelly
Community: Pierre
Shelly lives on a small ranch on Lake Oahe. She has been married to her husband, Casey for 36 years. Together they have 3 children and 4 grandchildren. Shelly enjoys traveling, spending time with her family, paddle boarding, and concerts to name a few. She also finds time to work as a Registered Nurse.
Shelly enjoys helping others and giving back. She says, “I feel I have been given so many blessings in my life. CASA gives me the opportunity to help children to have a voice in situations where they may not otherwise have anyone to advocate for their needs. In my mind, there is nothing more precious than a child.”
The most surprising fact Shelly learned in her training is the number of children/cases in the court system in Central South Dakota.
